When to Permit with the WPOA Architectural Control Committee
The Architectural Control Committee does not require a property owner to submit an application for a permit for any improvement that is at/near ground level and does not have rails or a roof and is contained within the property lines. The Architectural Control Committee does not require application for installation of flatwork, i.e.: driveways, sideways, patio (unless said patio has railings or a roof covering).
Additionally, a permit application does not need to be submitted for any kind of landscaping with one exception: The exception for landscaping would be on a corner lot where plantings might restrict the ability to view oncoming traffic.
WPOA does require permit application for any and all new homes, some additions, sheds, garages, enclosures, decks with railings or roof, pools, and fences and gates. The committee requires a permit fee, a completed application, a survey, and specifications when an application is submitted for any of these items. You can download application forms from this site.
